Superstar female impersonator Frank Marino has been honored with nearly every award in Las Vegas, including: The only entertainer with two stars on the Las Vegas Walk of Fame; a street named in his honor; his own official day (February 1); and the key to the city -- all of which were given to him by Mayor Oscar Goodman.
What else could someone like Frank Marino hope to accomplish? After 26 years, he’s performed over 20,000 shows for over 10,000,000 people, and has had over 350,000 costume changes. He’s even in the Guinness Book as the longest continuous-running headliner in Las Vegas. But there are more changes coming. The impersonator we all know as Joan Rivers is about inject a fabulous twist into the plot.
Marino will still open the show with his ever-changing comedic monologue and narrate the production throughout, but since he has achieved such high levels of stardom, he no longer feels it necessary to attach himself to another star.
“After 25 years, I’m not longer keeping up with the ‘Joanses’ anymore,” Marino laughed. “I’m not hanging on her coat tails anymore because I feel I’m big enough to sell tickets on my own. My Joan Rivers character will be gradually worked out of the show totally. By the end of the year, I’ll be just Frank Marino, superstar!”
Divas Las Vegas will still feature a terrific supporting cast alongside Marino as the host and narrator. Marino will also soon debut a new wardrobe, with half of his custom-made dresses from designer-to-the stars Bob Mackie, and the other half from up-and-coming designers.
“When I was going into the business, I didn’t realize how hard it would be climbing the ladder of success … especially wearing high heels!” Marino said.
A contemporary and upbeat production, “Frank Marino’s Divas Las Vegas” is chock full of female celebrity look-alikes impersonating some of entertainment’s most beloved superstars from Cher and Bette Midler to Britney Spears. To keep the production fresh and exciting, Marino has recently made some additions to the dazzling show including Rihanna, Janet Jackson and Lady Gaga. Also, catch Frank Marino on an upcoming episode of The Millionaire Matchmaker, as he impersonates host Patti Stanger.
