In Las Vegas, the cafe-style restaurant, of which there’s at least one in every major casino, is typically different from hotel to hotel due to decor and theme. Other than that, guests can usually assume that there’s lighter fare with sandwiches and hamburgers in abundance. At the Egg & I, however, located at 4533 W. Sahara Ave., Brad Burdsall has created a cafe setting with food and service that goes well beyond the conventional scene here in Las Vegas.
Featured in Zagat as a top-rated American (Traditional) restaurant and in the category of Best Buys for full-menu restaurants, the Egg & I was also featured on Rachel Ray’s ‘Tasty Travels’. With so much attention paid to an off-the-Strip restaurant, can it really be that good?
Yes. Undoubtedly so. With a steady stream of people exiting the restaurant remarking that even the muffins (the Banana Nut muffin is consistently fawned over) are fresh, unique and delicious, the Egg & I is worth the short drive. As the name might indicate, the Egg & I is also known for creative and mouth-watering egg dishes, from the ever-popular Egg’s Benedict Florentine with fresh spinach atop Canadian bacon, two poached eggs and a grilled
english muffin, smothered with hollandaise and served with a fruit cup and (delicious) ranch potatoes... to the Cincy Omelette which serves a fluffy three-egg omelette stuffed with diced onion, Cincy Chili, folded and then topped with more Cincy Chili and melted cheese. For anyone who knows Cincy Chili, it’s a welcome surprise.
